DentalTwin represents a major step toward AI-driven automation in prosthetic design. How do you see artificial intelligence reshaping clinical decision-making and laboratory workflows in the next 3–5 years?
Artificial intelligence (AI) will not redefine dentistry by replacing professionals, but by altering how their expertise is applied. Over the next three to five years, AI will become a foundational layer of the digital dental ecosystem, driving significant gains in efficiency, productivity, and quality across clinical and laboratory workflows. In an environment marked by increasing complexity and global workforce constraints, AI offers a scalable way to amplify rather than diminish human skills.
In clinical decision-making, AI will evolve into an intelligent co-pilot. By integrating diagnostic data, treatment parameters, and outcome patterns, it will provide clinicians with unprecedented clarity and foresight. The objective is not the automation of judgment, but the augmentation of clinical intelligence, enabling more predictable planning, earlier risk recognition, and greater consistency across cases, all while preserving the clinician’s autonomy and responsibility.
In dental laboratories, AI will fundamentally transform how value is created. Routine design steps will become highly automated and standardized, allowing laboratories to shift their focus from production to precision. Technicians will increasingly operate as curators of quality, esthetics, and function, supported by AI systems that ensure reliability at scale. DentalTwin was built on this vision: to create a digital twin of the prosthetic workflow that connects clinic and lab through intelligence, not just software.
What motivated DentalTwin to join the Digital Dentistry Society, and how do you see this collaboration accelerating innovation adoption within the global dental community?
DentalTwin joined the Digital Dentistry Society (DDS) because we believe that the future of dentistry will be shaped not by isolated technologies, but by shared vision, scientific dialogue, and global collaboration. The DDS represents a rare convergence of clinical authority, academic rigor, and technological innovation, making it a catalyst for responsible digital transformation.
As AI increasingly influences clinical and technical workflows, alignment around ethical standards, clinical relevance, and evidence-based implementation becomes essential. The DDS provides the framework to translate innovation into trust. Through this collaboration, DentalTwin aims to actively contribute to a global conversation that accelerates adoption while ensuring that new technologies elevate, rather than fragment, the standard of care.
“DentalTwin was built on this vision: to create a digital twin of the prosthetic workflow that connects clinic and lab through intelligence, not just software.”
As AI becomes increasingly capable in designing restorations, where do you see the balance between human expertise and machine intelligence in achieving optimal patient outcomes?
The most meaningful advances in dentistry will emerge where machine intelligence and human judgment intersect. AI can deliver speed, scalability, and consistency, but it is human expertise that gives treatment its context, nuance, and purpose. The future is not one where machines design in isolation, but where clinicians and technicians guide, validate, and refine AI-driven outcomes.
Dentists and dental technicians will remain the architects of patient care, defining goals, interpreting results, and making final decisions. AI will serve to accelerate excellence, reducing variability and improving predictability. At DentalTwin, we see technology as a force that expands professional capability, strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration, and ultimately enables a more precise, personalized, and patient-centered form of dentistry.
