How has ZEISS technology influenced your perception of precision and vision in modern dentistry?

Quite fundamentally, actually. When engaging with dental professionals, we often realize that many of them have never experienced working under a microscope. Once they do, it’s a game-changer. ZEISS provides the precision and visual clarity that dentists need–not just for complex procedures but for everyday tasks, too.

Our mantra at ZEISS is simple but powerful: You can only treat what you can see. That idea drives everything we do. It’s not about adding fancy tech for the sake of it—it’s about giving dentists better vision, better posture, and better communication with their patients. Once you’ve worked with magnification, you don’t want to go back.

You mention an important point: The ease of use of technology. How does SprintRay support clinicians to adopt in-house production?

Our devices guide the user through the process. The software provides step-by-step instructions and supports clinicians or their assistants from the upload of their scan data through the design and the final printing process. If there are any open questions, our AI (artificial intelligence) Assistant or in-person customer service is always ready to help and just a phone call away.

In your view, what is the future of microdentistry, and how does it align with broader healthcare innovation?

We see digital dentistry becoming more and more relevant in microdentistry. The ability to record, analyze, and share treatments with high-resolution optics combined with digital solutions opens new dimensions. Dentists are able to involve patients in their treatment plans, educating them about the necessity of procedures. At the same time, patients are involved and engaged with their oral health, laying the foundation for a better understanding of the procedure. The result is a stronger relationship between dentist and patient. In addition to that, digital dentistry also supports peer collaboration as treatments can be shared with colleagues for knowledge sharing. Also, ergonomics is a huge topic for us. We’re not just thinking about what dentists do but how they work. With a dental microscope like the ZEISS EXTARO 300, the typical neck and back pain can be a thing of the past. That’s a win for long-term health and career satisfaction.

Without revealing confidential details, could you share a glimpse into your upcoming projects and where your passion is currently leading you?

What I can say is: it’s an exciting time. We’re working on innovations that make dental microscopes even more accessible and connected. Think about better integration with digital solutions, improved user experiences, and AI-powered insights.

Our mission is clear: every dental practice—yes, every single one—should have access to the benefits of a dental microscope. It’s no longer a device for specialists in the field of endodontics—it’s an essential tool for modern dentistry. We want to support that shift with smart, intuitive, and future-ready solutions like our ZEISS EXTARO 300.

So, one last question: what would you say to dentists who still think they don’t need a microscope?

I’d say—just try it. Even once. Look through the eyepiece, do a procedure, and feel the difference in posture, visibility, and confidence. Most dentists who make the switch say that they’d never go back. If you want to elevate your practice, if you want to offer your patients the best possible treatment, it starts with what you can see.
