Redefining What’s Possible: The Midas Digital Press 3D Printer

The Midas Digital Press 3D Printer

Introducing our most significant innovation yet—the Midas Digital Press 3D Printer. This groundbreaking device introduces the world to Digital Press Stereolithography (DPS) and our patent-pending Resin Capsule System, designed to handle highly viscous resins that traditional 3D printing technologies simply couldn’t manage.

Historically, the types of materials available have set the limits of what could be achieved in dental restoration. But with Midas, we’re changing the game. This technology doesn’t just enhance how materials are used; it expands the horizons of what can be printed. Ceramics, traditionally too thick for traditional 3D printers, can now be easily handled, paving the way for future advancements in composites and ceramics. Schedule a demo to see it in action.

“Materials, more than anything, have dictated what is possible in the dental restoration field”.

“Materials, more than anything, have dictated what is possible in the dental restoration field,” said Amir Mansouri, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO of SprintRay. “The introduction of Midas revolutionizes both the manner in which material is transformed and reveals an entirely new paradigm of what can actually be printed. Until now, materials like ceramics were too thick for traditional 3D printers to handle. Midas changes everything. Not only does this innovation handle today’s ceramic-based materials but sets the stage for future advances in composites and ceramics. We are on the brink of a new era in biomaterial innovation, and we’re thrilled to be leading the charge.”

As we prepare to make Midas available to dental professionals later this year, we are proud to introduce a completely new methodology in 3D printing, the first of its kind in forty years. Alongside the printer, we are launching our AI Studio design software, which will streamline the chairside design and delivery of restorations, making the process faster and smoother than ever before.

Dr. Wally Renne, a recognized global leader in digital dentistry and co-founder of MOD Institute, regards the introduction of Midas as “the biggest breakthrough in dentistry since the first CEREC inlay was milled in 1985.” He’s excited about the ease with which crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers can now be fabricated chairside in under eight minutes with our initial ceramic-filled resins.

Midas and DPS eliminates viscosity limitations and creates a new platform for material innovation. The patented process removes the boundaries chemists have previously faced to change the mechanical properties and aesthetics of resin. Midas’s ability to eliminate viscosity limitations opens a new chapter for material innovation. It uses a unique, vacuum-sealed resin capsule that simplifies the workflow and allows for the printing of up to three units in just minutes, offering a clean and efficient process.

Complementing the printer, our AI Studio software integrates seamlessly with existing dental scanning systems like 3Shape, Dexis, and Medit. This cloud-based platform allows for easy adjustments and customizations without needing any CAD skills, revolutionizing how dental restorations are designed.

The future of biomaterials looks incredibly promising thanks to these innovations. Ehsan Barjasteh, Ph.D., head of our Biomaterial Innovation Lab, believes that Midas and AI Studio are just the beginning of what’s possible in the world of 3D printed materials.

“Midas has changed what we view as possible in 3D printed materials. This new open platform allows an entire industry of material science innovators to explore a new galaxy of solutions. Biomaterials have a very exciting future that is going to result in monumental benefits for our customers and patients alike,” said Ehsan Barjasteh, Ph.D., head of the SprintRay Biomaterial Innovation Lab.

We’re excited about what Midas means for the future of dentistry and are eager to start delivering these units by the end of 2024 in the US and Q1/2025 in EMEA. The anticipation around these developments is high, and rightly so, as they mark a significant milestone in the evolution of dental restoration manufacturing.
