The latest update of the zebris JMA-Optic 4.0 software makes splint therapy in the practice easier: the integrated ‘Splint Designer’ module enables dentists to efficiently produce three customised therapeutic splints directly from the recorded measurement data. Whether comfort or positioning splints – each splint is precisely adapted to the patient’s physiological movement patterns. This ensures optimum functionality and maximum comfort for patients. The lower jaw is brought into the desired position to produce the splint. The JMA-Optic software then automatically creates a splint suggestion in which the gap between the original position and the new splint position is precisely filled. The best thing about this is that the patient’s occlusal sensation remains unchanged, which leads to a high level of acceptance and tolerance of the splint therapy.
The intuitive software thus simplifies the manufacturing process and saves valuable time, allowing dentists to offer their patients a customised restoration faster than ever before. With the splint designer, they can organise their everyday practice more efficiently by saving more time [1].
The patient can receive his customised splint within around two hours, provided the dental practice or practice laboratory is equipped with the appropriate CAD/CAM technologies. The splint is then additively manufactured using a 3D printer or milled in a milling machine. 1. CTS - Comfort Therapy Splint (Rainbow Splint)
The CTS – Comfort Therapy Splint is suitable as a simple bite splint for patients with minor complaints in the masticatory muscle appliance. It helps to reduce stress and relieve tension pain and is often used as an initial therapy. The design in the splint designer is user-friendly and is created or positioned based on the opening movement of the jaw. The splint offers a comfortable fit.

2. PTS - Positioning Therapy Splint

Based on the measurement data obtained, the splint is designed with the splint designer to create space in the joint area, which requires precise measurements and specialist expertise.
